STUMP JIM FLYNN

Q. Jim, our company has started stocking multi tap capacitors on all of our service trucks. My question is this; does the capacitor lose any of its performance capability? Or is a multi tap capacitor a good solution for providing the customer quick service and getting their unit back online? Thank you. ~ Barbara Roberts, Hentkowski, Inc., Wilmington, Del.

A. Barbara, first let me say that relative to Carrier®, Bryant® and Payne® equipment, I will always suggest you use Factory Authorized Parts™ for all the reasons we have been highlighting in Beyond Repair for the past three-plus years. That being said when I talked to our trainer about your question, his answer was as follows:

A capacitor is a capacitor, whether it is a multi tap or not, their performance doesn’t change. Again remember - Factory Authorized Parts are the RIGHT Choice for you – the contractor and should be the ONLY Choice for the homeowner.

Thanks for your question, Barbara! Stay warm and keep those customers happy. Because you sent us such a great question, we’ll be sending you some free merchandise! Would you like some free merchandise for yourself? Then send me your most urgent HVAC questions, conundrums and quizzes. If I use your question here, you’ll get some free merchandise for yourself.
