Bynum Training Center - The Training You Need to Excel

As an HVAC dealer or technician, you know how important it is to make sure you have the training you need to get the job done right. At Carrier, we also believe that training techs is just as important as providing them with cutting-edge, high quality products. That’s why we offer extensive training courses, all created with the HVAC professional in mind, through Carrier University, located at the Bynum Training Center in Syracuse, NY.

According to Tom Kelly, Training Manager at Carrier University, techs have the option to attend many informative courses at the Bynum Training Center, many of which provide a direct, hands-on approach. “Carrier training is special, in that most classes provide hands-on learning in combination with classroom activity,” Kelly indicated. “This allows technicians to gain real-world knowledge, which will help them excel in the field.”

Kelly said that Carrier University provides training on several levels, from technical learning to professional development. Technicians taking courses in technical learning will gain fundamental knowledge in the key areas of service training, design and control. Those who deal directly with customers will benefit from courses in professional development, as they learn about company culture, professional expectations, product knowledge, and ethics, to name some course topics.

Additionally, Kelly indicated that Carrier provides a more enhanced course of study in system design, which is taken after technicians are trained in basic HVAC concepts. This area of study enables technicians to develop more advanced skills in the design and modification of either new or existing home comfort systems.

“These courses are open to everyone,” Kelly said. “They are not specific to any manufacturer at the beginning levels, so really, these courses can be applied to most HVAC systems, regardless of brand,” he said. “We have been in the business of training those in the field of HVAC for more than 50 years, so taking Carrier University courses is a real resume enhancer,” he added.

Kelly indicated that some of the real benefits of the courses extend beyond an enhanced knowledge of HVAC. “Techs who take our training courses find that there is a reduction in downtime, that they’re able to complete more work in less time, and the quality of their work is higher.”

And what’s more, signing up for a class at Carrier University is as simple as the click of a mouse. “Techs have the ability to sign up for classes online, and they’re able to pay using a credit card, PO or check.” Some courses, such as the NATE Core Prep Class and the ABCs of Air Conditioning are even available online, Kelly said.

“Carrier University is a terrific resource for HVAC professionals who truly want to grow in their profession,” Kelly said, “And it is our pleasure to help them achieve excellence.”

Carrier Technical Training is officially certified as an authorized provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training. It is also a NATE-authorized training and testing facility. For more information on Carrier University, please visit them online at www.carrieruniversity.com.
