Change the Motor; Change the Blade - Every Time

As an HVAC/R technician, you know that using F.A.P. motors on Carrier®, Bryant®, and Payne® equipment is smart and practical. But did you know that every time you change a motor, you should replace the blade as well? Appearances are important, but there are other benefits to changing the blade, too.

“Changing the fan blade every time you replace a motor should be standard practice,” said Totaline® Category Manager Jay Seitz. “Fan blades are extremely sensitive, and failure to change them can be detrimental to the entire system.”

Seitz explained that failure to replace the blade could cause damage to the brand-new motor. “You should never put an old fan blade back on a new motor,” he said. “Doing this could cause damage to the unit by putting the motor out of balance. This might lead to early motor failure,” Seitz added.

F.A.P. fan blades provide an exact, drop-in replacement for Carrier, Bryant, and Payne equipment, making installation a breeze. Additionally, F.A.P. are UL and/or CSA-approved, and maintain equipment warranties.

Changing the fan blade can make a world of difference in how the customer perceives their HVAC/R tech as well. “Customers look into a unit, and see the blade first,” said Seitz. “If they see a rusty old blade, they might question whether the job has been done properly. A new blade with a new motor looks better to the customer, and it shows them that you did the job right,” he said.

Seitz also said that F.A.P. motors and accompanying blades are readily available at Totaline sales centers. “At Totaline sales centers, we’ve got you covered,” Seitz said. “We carry a full line of F.A.P. blades and motors, as well as a number of aftermarket motors, blades and accessories to meet your needs,” he said.
